Vaccinations are at the heart of preventative medicine. Although the incidence of these frightening diseases have been greatly reduced, they have not been eradicated and are extremely important to prevent.

Core equine vaccines include:

  • Rabies
  • Tetanus
  • West Nile Virus
  • Eastern/Western/Venezuelan Encephalomyelitis

Additional vaccines that may be necessary depending on your horse’s risk include:

  • Equine Herpes Virus (EHV)
  • Influenza
  • Strangles
  • Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA)
  • Botulism
  • Potomac Horse Fever (PHF)

Many vaccines are available in a combination immunization, call Kanapaha Veterinary Services for more information or see our “Helpful Links” tab.
